Application of "The White Manifesto"

Reading The White Manifesto by Lucio Fontana, I wanted to explore the idea of 4D art. I always seem to have the hardest time visualizing a fourth dimension. I think I figured it out though. In The White Manifesto Fontana wrote "[We ask scientists] to direct part of their research towards discovering of the luminous and malleable substance and instruments to produce sounds that permit the development of fourth dimensional art."

The idea of fourth dimensional art means somehow incorporating time into one's work, either by light, or sound, anything to convey this.

Lemieux Pilon is a company that is all about 4D art. Led by directors Michael Lemieux and Victor Pilon, This company draws in an audience by surrounding them with their show. What I love is how holograms are incorporated into the show, the actors use them as props or even treat them as fellow actors on stage. Check out the link to see what I mean and get a sample of La Belle et la Bete, one of the 30 shows that this company has toured since 1983: http://www.4dart.com/home.html

I think Fontana would be pleased to see that we've come a long way in the development of new ways to create art. Technology has advanced since his manifesto was written (1940's) and therefore it was become more incorporated into art today.
