If the shoe fits

And I thought I've seen some crazy shoes, but this takes the cake. Iris Schieferstein is a Berlin artist who specializes making shoes....out of animal carcasses, yes really. These shoes were once made out of carcasses that Iris would find on the side of the road, including snakes, doves, deer, and other furry roadside critters. However, a run in with her local police led her to collect her medium from her local butchers.

Shoes can sell for prices all the way up to $6,000! What I really want to know is who is buying this.
I know after a while my normal shoes start to get an odor to them, I can only imagine what these shoes smell like.

Can you See me Now?

After reading Digital Visual Culture: Theory and Practice I wanted to look at the exhibit Can you See me Now? (CYSMN) on the internet to see if it was still an active exhibit. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything leading to it. However, while I was browsing Google for the website, I stumbled upon a great exhibit that was on display until October of 2011, similarly titled Can You See Me Now: Photos Made on Phones. This exhibit was taken from pictures that people from around the world had submitted, but these photos were taken just with a cell phone.

Oodles of Doodles by Google...s

It seems the past couple of weeks I have seen more changes to the Google logo, then ever before. Maybe it's because I've been more attentive, or I've just been trying to find as many different things to talk about on this blog. Regardless, I decided to investigate these doodles and found some interesting information.

The "doodles" as they are referred to are now to "bring smiles of faces to people around the world" but where did they start?
Back in 1998 (before the company was even incorporated!) Google wanted to indicate, via their website, they would be attending Burning Man. The doodle was received so well that a team now has the sole duty of making these doodles. Currently, this doodle team has made more than 1000 doodles for Google pages all over the world.

Original doodle. August 30, 1998.
