Princess Leia's message a dream no more

The scene above, which awed many when the Star Wars movies were released, seems to finally be coming true!

American spy services have just dropped $58 MILLION dollars to make these scenes reality, it's simply baffling how far technology has come. The company that won the bid for this job, Ostendo Technologies will have 18 months to create working prototype to show off. The technology will be known as SHO, or Synthetic Holographic Observation.

Unlike other types of projection, this SHO will be able to be viewed by the "unaided eye" and be able to be shown to many people at the same time at different angles. 

While I can appreciate the idea and advancement of technology, it is scary to see how quickly technology is evolving, and asks the question: can we handle it? The opening quote from the movie 9 sums it up best with "Our blind pursuit of technology only sped us quicker to our doom."
